Description: This session will be hosted by Nicoli Ueda, M.A. National Board Certified Intensive Diagnostic Education Center Teacher (IDEC). Nikki has 11 years of experience as an intensive reading intervention teacher and co-authored LAUSD's Reading and Literacy Added Authorization program and courses. Orton-Gillingham Level 1 Certified, Wilson Reading System Certified as a teacher/trainer, Literacy Mentor/Coach.
 
The RICA Workshop #3 will prepare you with knowledge on the RICA content specifications and test preparation for subtest III: Domain 1:Planning, Organizing, and Managing Reading Instruction and the Case Study essay. You will learn proven test-taking strategies designed specifically for RICA through a specially designed RICA lens technique created by Nikki and her reading specialist colleagues.

    • Topic: Impactful Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Description: From Feelings to Solutions: A Focus on Social-Emotional Learning - Relationships are the bedrock of teaching and learning. Social Emotional Learning fosters positive attitudes toward oneself and others. During our time together we will explore the factors that affect relationships and identify areas of needed growth. Participants will also develop an understanding of the physiology of the stress response, its relation to anxiety and the effects on learning. Once we are aware of the effects of the stress response, we can then employ strategies to reduce anxiety, build relationships and promote learning. These strategies can we utilized to create a safe environment where students and staff know they are valued and supported.
