Workforce Housing
In May 2023, our district opened our Workforce Housing development on 400 and 440 Abbott Street in Salinas!
This is a first-of-its-kind development in Monterey County and one of the only few programs like this for K-12 educators in California.
The Workforce Housing Development supports the district’s educational mission, which includes its efforts to attract and retain qualified employees in order to best serve our students and their families. The development provides below-market-rate housing for eligible district employees, allowing for our employee residents to stay local and serve our community while possibly saving for a down payment on a home in the area.
The development has 50 units: 2 studio units, 22 1 bed/1 bath units, 8 2 bed/1 bath units, and 18 2 bed/2 bath units. Additionally, the Workforce Housing has a common room, laundry rooms, a fitness center, and a play area. This development makes market-rate housing and amenities affordable and accessible to our district’s employees at a discounted rate.
