Women's History Month: Alma Pio-Garcia

Happy Women’s History Month!

This month, we’re excited to celebrate the incredible women of our school district who have made and are making a lasting impact on our community!

Alma Pio-Garcia is a North Salinas High School alumni, a first-generation college graduate, and our district’s very own Director of Special Projects. She has been an important part of our district for almost 25 years in her roles as an instructional aide, middle school math teacher, high school intervention specialist, high school assistant principal, and now as Director of Special Projects. As Director of Special Projects, Alma has led her department in doubling in parent and community participants during their annual ‘Strengthening the Family’ Conference, adding the annual ‘Mental Health Matters’ Conference, adding a weekly session with a family therapist, and implementing monthly workshops provided by different organizations based on parent input. Additionally, under the direction of Alma, the Special Projects Department has grown in its ability to provide quality services to foster and homeless youth across the district.

Thank you, Alma Pio-Garcia, for inspiring us and paving the way for future generations of women!
