Board Highlights are summaries of the Board of Trustees (the Board) meetings published by the communications staff and are not intended as documentation. Presentations

• The new Student Board Member, Noelia Colin of North Salinas, was re-introduced to the Board after being sworn-in in September of 2022. She will sit on the Board for six sessions. 

• A representative from Safe Routes to School presented the final Salinas Safe Routes to Schools Plan to the Board. This plan, which was supported by the board, makes it safer for students to walk, bike, or take the bus to school rather than being driven by a single-family vehicle.

• Board President, Carlos Rubio, announced that the SUHSD Board was presented with a resolution from the City of Salinas in honor of National School Board Recognition Month. 

Action Items 

• Student Board Member, Vanessa Huynh, was honored for her valuable service as a member of the Salinas Union High School District Board of Trustees. Her personal commitment to the students of the District, through serving as a liaison between the students and the Board, enhanced communication and collaboration between the Board and the student body. We are appreciative of her contributions to her fellow students, the community, and the District at large.

• The collective bargaining agreements, which proposed an 11% compensation increase for both Classified and Certificated employees, were passed unanimously by the Board. 

  • Public Disclosure of Collective Bargaining Agreement by the Salinas Valley Federation of Teachers, Certificated Staff 

  • Public Disclosure of Collective Bargaining Agreement by the California School Employees Association, Classified Staff

  • 11% Compensation Increase Passed by Board Video 

Next Board Meeting 

• The next board meeting will take place on January 24, 2023 at 6:30 PM in the Board Room at Salinas Union High School District Office, 403 W. Alisal Street.
