SALINAS, Calif. — The Alisal High School Varsity Girls Softball team will make school history on Saturday, June 6, when the Trojans host the CIF Northern California Division IV Championship Game at Alisal High School.
The championship appearance caps a remarkable postseason run that has already rewritten the school's record books. Earlier this season, Alisal captured its first-ever Central Coast Section Division I softball championship with a 4-2 victory over Hillsdale, earning the program's first section title.
The Trojans carried that momentum into the CIF State Tournament, defeating Newark Memorial 12-0 in the Northern California semifinals before outlasting Live Oak in an 11-inning thriller, 5-4, to advance to the regional championship game.
Saturday's contest marks another milestone for the program, as Alisal will not only compete for a Northern California title but will do so on its home field in front of the Trojan community.
"This team has demonstrated incredible resilience, discipline, and heart throughout the season," said Varsity Softball Coach John Nieto. "They have represented our school and community with pride, and we are excited to see them compete for a NorCal championship at home."
The Trojans enter the game after a postseason run defined by strong pitching, timely hitting, and a commitment to playing for one another. Their success has brought together students, staff, families, alumni, and community members, creating one of the most memorable athletic seasons in school history.
The Salinas Union High School District invites the entire SUHSD community to be part of this historic moment. Students, families, staff, alumni, and community supporters are encouraged to attend Saturday's championship game and cheer on the Trojans as they compete for a CIF Northern California title.
