Emergency Preparedness and School Safety have always been topics of discussion from fire drills to earthquakes in our region. Unfortunately, in recent years, school shootings have become front and center in the news, including the Uvalde Texas event in May of 2022. What is SUHSD doing about safety and emergency preparedness for our staff and student populations?
Since arriving in August of 2022, we have an Emergency Operations Manual that provides the groundwork to give guidance during emergency events. This Emergency Operations Manual also provides parallel guidance for training and live exercises with all Administrators and Educators in our District so when that emergency strikes, the District will be better positioned to respond to an incident. We also provide other trainings such as Narcan administration to respond to overdose emergencies on campuses.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me for more information.
Be safe.
