Interdistrict Transfers (Outside SUHSD)
If you live in the SUHSD district and wish to attend another District outside of the SUHSD District please complete this application.
- The student may not be enrolled at the requested school until the Interdistrict Attendance Agreement (IDA) is approved by both school districts.
- For students currently in grades 7-10 the IDA is valid for the current school year only, and may be revoked by the receiving district at any time during the school year due to overcrowded classroom conditions or the unsatisfactory attendance, academic progress or behavior of the student.
- Parents/guardians of students currently in grades 7-10 must submit an IDA annually to be considered for continued enrollment.
- Existing IDA’s shall not be rescinded for students currently in grades 11 or 12.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation.
Requesting Enrollment into SUHSD from Another District
If you live outside the boundaries of the Salinas Union High School District (SUHSD) and would like your student to attend one of our schools, you must first begin the transfer process with your home school district.
Important Steps:
-
Start with Your Home District
Contact your current school district and request an Interdistrict Transfer Application. This is required before SUHSD can review your request. Your home district must approve the release of your student. -
Submit to SUHSD After Home District Approval
Once you receive approval from your home district, you can then submit your completed Interdistrict Transfer Application to SUHSD for review. -
Wait for SUHSD Review
SUHSD will consider your application based on space availability, program capacity, and other district guidelines. Approval is not guaranteed, and decisions are made in the best interest of all students.
Reminders:
-
Students must remain enrolled in their current home district school until SUHSD has officially approved their transfer.
-
Applications are reviewed annually and do not automatically renew.
-
Families must reapply each year if they wish to continue attending SUHSD from outside the district.
For questions or more information, please contact our Pupil Personnel Services office. We’re here to help guide you through the process.
