New Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plan

Creating safe, healthy school environments is a top priority across our district. As part of that commitment, we implement an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program focused on long-term prevention, routine monitoring, and responsible response to pest activity.

Our approach emphasizes identifying and addressing conditions that may attract pests, while minimizing risks to students, staff, and the environment.

What is IPM?

Integrated Pest Management is a proactive strategy that focuses on preventing pest issues through regular monitoring, sanitation, and maintenance practices. When pest activity is identified, appropriate action is taken based on established thresholds, using methods that are effective while minimizing impact on people and the environment.

How We Manage Pests

Our district partners with licensed pest control providers to support pest management efforts across school sites. Monitoring and inspections are conducted on a monthly basis by contracted professionals.

Site staff, including custodial and maintenance personnel, support these efforts by identifying and reporting pest concerns. Findings are communicated to the IPM Coordinator to ensure appropriate follow-up and response.

When treatment is necessary, materials are selected and applied in a manner that minimizes risk to people, property, and the environment.

Safety and Compliance

Our IPM program complies with the Healthy Schools Act, including requirements for notification, posting, and recordkeeping. The district also submits annual pesticide use reports to the appropriate state agency.

Employees involved in pesticide application receive required training prior to use, including pesticide-specific safety training and state-approved IPM training.

Our Commitment

Our goal is to create and maintain a safe environment for students and staff. The district reviews and updates the IPM Plan at least annually to ensure the information remains accurate and aligned with current practices and requirements.
