Michael Urquides brings a strong commitment to public service, community, and education to his role on the Salinas Union High School District Board of Trustees. With deep roots in Salinas and a lifelong connection to the district, Trustee Urquides is dedicated to supporting opportunities that help every student succeed.
His connection to Salinas High School spans generations. A proud third-generation graduate, Trustee Urquides has seen his family's legacy continue through all four of his children, who graduated from Salinas High School in the Classes of 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2026. This personal connection gives him a unique appreciation for the role the district plays in shaping the lives of students and families across the community.
Trustee Urquides' commitment to service began as a student in Salinas High School's Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Firefighting Program in 1987, where he discovered a passion for emergency services and public safety that has continued throughout his career. His experiences have reinforced his belief in the importance of career pathways, hands-on learning, and preparing students for success beyond high school.
Outside of his Board service, Michael enjoys restoring his 1988 fire truck, combining his appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and his lifelong dedication to the fire service.
