    Why Excessive Excused Letters?

    Most families don’t have any or have limited interaction with schools until something is wrong. In order to increase awareness and communication with families. Salinas Union High School District will notify parents and guardians how many excused days of school the student has accrued. In addition students may have barriers that are unknown- resources may be needed. We are here to see your student succeed. 

    What is the Excessive Excused Absence Letter Process?

    • First Excessive Excused Absence Notification (EEA1)

      • At 5+ excused days 

    • Second Excessive Excused Absence Notification (EEA2)

    • At 10+ excused days

    Every day matters! This is an opportunity to ensure every parent is aware of district policies. 

    How Will Excused Absences Affect My Student ?

    • Any absence, excused or unexcused, means missed learning time that can negatively affect your child’s academic success.

    • Board Policy requires that a student maintain at least 85% attendance for the days enrolled in order to graduate and receive a diploma.

    Excessive Excused Absence Notifications are not “Turancy Notifications” but rather a tool to increase awareness and communication with families in the district.
