• AWARDS:

    Student athletes have the opportunity to win the following awards for participating in Athletics at Salinas High School:

    Participation Certificate:  Every athlete receives this for completing their season

    Specific Sport Plaques:  Every coaching staff in every sport at every level receives three plaques funded by the Salinas High School Athletic Booster Club to honor athletes.  It is up to the coaching staff to figure out what the label of these awards will be.  A team can hand out more awards, but the sport will pay for the extra plaques above the three alloted by the Booster Club.

    Letterman Jacket Awards:  Salinas High School Athletics is committed to honoring the athletes for their hard work and dedication to Salinas High School not only in competition but in the classroom.  The following awards will be given out to athletes that earn them:

    Block "S:"  Given to anyone that competes at the Varsity level in a sport.  The criteria for earning the Block S is completely up to the Head Coach of that sport and varies from sport to sport.

    Swiss Sport Specific Blocks:  These patches are the small sport patches that go on the Block S. Every Varsity athlete will receive one of these patches each time they complete a Varsity Sport.

    League Champion Patches:  This patch is awarded to any Varsity athlete that is a member of a Varsity league championship team or wins a Varsity individual league title.

    CCS Patch:  This patch goes to any Varsity Athlete that participates in the CCS playoffs.

    Nor Cal or State patch:  This patch goes out to any Varsity athlete that competes in the Nor Cal tournament or State tournament.

    Star Patch:  Given to team captains designated by the Head Coach of that sport.

    Three Sport Athlete Patch:  Given to any athlete that completes three or more sports at any level in a school year.

    Three Sport Athlete Bar:  Given to any athlete that completes three or more sports at any level in a school year after earning the three sport athlete patch.

     

     

    Grade Point Average Awards:  Salinas High School is dedicated to honoring our athletes that excel in the classroom.  The grading periods that set these awards are: 

    Fall Sports:  First Quarter grades 

    Winter Sports:  First SEMESTER grades 

    Spring Sports:  Third Quarter grades.

     

    The following awards are given to students that make school their top priority:

    Star Pin:  Given to any athlete that competes in a Junior Varsity or Frosh season that earns a 3.0-4.0 GPA. 

    Scholar Athlete Patch:  Given to any Varsity level athlete that earns a 3.0-3.99 GPA

    Scholar Athlete Shield Patch:  Given to any Varsity level athlete that earns a 4.0.  This award is given when the athlete earns their first 4.0 at the Varsity level.

    Scholar Athlete Bar:  Given to any Varsity level athlete that earns a 4.0 after earning their first one.  This award is given when the athlete earns a 4.0 after their first Varsity 4.0.
