  • EAGLE NEWS! 

     

    **If you have pre-registered for AP, Honors, and Gate classes for the 2018-19 school year your attendance at the AP Parent Night is required. At this meeting, you will get important information including a contract, summer assignment, and you'll get to meet your future teacher. The meeting is scheduled for April 25th at 6 PM in the Big Gym. Please don't be late!

    Summer School registration is now open! Counselors have been calling in students to recruit, but students who misplaced their applications can get new ones with their counselor. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis so stop in the counseling office today to reserve a spot in summer school! 

    The Thespian Society presents "Novio Boy", a play about an awkward freshman boy named Rudy who lands a date with the talented junior Patricia but has everyone getting in the way. Oh, and he's broke. Showtimes are 7 p.m., April 20-21. 

    **CONGRATULATIONS to Japanese students Alicia Guillen, Gibran Garcia, Allyson Mabul and Theresa Huynh for their phenomenal performances last Friday at the district-wide Japanese speech contest! Theresa received the Judges Award and Allyson was awarded second place. Go Eagles! 

    **Congratulations to the Migrant students who proudly represented EAHS in the Regional Migrant Speech and Debate Tournament this past Saturday. Great job students! 

    Felicidades a los estudiantes del Programa Migrante que orgullosamente representaron nuestra preparatoria en el Torneo regional de debate y oratoria este sábado pasado. Excelente trabajo estudiantes!

    **CONGRATULATIONS TO THE POETS OF EVERETT ALVAREZ!! 

    Alvarez took home the trophy at last night's district-wide poetry slam with win worthy performances from all who participated.

    • First place went to Kenya Burton
    • Second place to Jonathan Rome.
    • Honorable mention to Gladys Joval and Ignacio Maravilla

    Rachael Hathaway, Ricky Yniguez, Brian Jimenez, and Bessie Nicolaides also gave strong performances.

    A big thank you and congratulations to all you Wordsmiths!! Your words matter and made your school and Mrs. Myers so proud! 

     

    **SATURDAY EAGLE ACADEMY - Is for any student that needs to recover attendance and/or get help with homework on Saturdays. You heard right, EAHS has been offering this opportunity for students during our Saturday Eagle Academy.  If you are interested, come and see Ms. Gutierrez inside the library to get an application and check available dates.

    SENIORS - The deadline for Community Service Awards is April 30th at lunch! Please stop by the Career Center if you have any questions.

    Attention Juniors: Are you interested in taking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course next school year? Please see Mrs. Betancourt in the Career Center for more details.

    **SENIORS! Do you need money to pay for your college expenses next school year? There are several local scholarships now open for application.  Ask the Counselors' Secretary for more information!

  • COMMUNITY SERVICE / JOB OPPORTUNITIES!

    Students are you looking for community service hours??

    **SENIORS - The deadline for Community Service Awards is April 30th at lunch! Please stop by the Career Center if you have any questions.

    Youth Without Limits is looking for volunteers for 3 to 4 days. The event will be held in Monterey, and a gift will be given for those who work all 3 days. Hours are from 4-8 pm-Thursday & Friday, and Saturday & Sunday 7 am- 6 pm. Lunch is provided for Sat & Sun. Please stop by the Career Center for contact information!

    Volunteers needed this Sunday, April 22nd at Madonna Del Sasso, Cross Hall. 320 E. Laurel Dr, from 4:30-7:30 pm. Please stop by the Career Center for more info!

    Community service hours available at The Salvation Army!  The Kid's Cafe Program needs volunteers! Please stop by the Career Center to find out more about it!
