Program Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree awarded
- CBEST and CSET (if applicable) requirement fulfilled
- Prerequisite coursework completed (18 units)
- Acceptance into CSUMB teacher preparation program in special education or mathematics
- Desire to teach in the Salinas Union High School District for at least 4 years
- Substitute Teacher Permit through SUHSD
Program Outline- One year part-time student teacher assignment in a mentor's classroom
- Gradual release teaching model
- Pairs training for student teacher and master teacher
- 10 hours of mentor training for master teacher
- Participation in district-sponsored professional development
- Participation in school-wide meetings, including parent conferences
- Monthly residency meetings with district New Teacher Support Specialist
- Must be willing to work at least 4 years in the Salinas Union High School District

Financial Benefits- $20,000 stipend
- $3,000 stipend for master teacher
