What is the Strong Workforce Program?
Strong Workforce Program strives for More and Better Career Technical Education in California
The Strong Workforce Program is a recurring annual investment focused on increasing social mobility and empowering local economies with skilled workers. Passed by the California Legislature in 2016, the program provides annual recurring funds for community colleges with the goal of training one million more skilled workers for the state’s economy.
In 2018, the California Legislature added to the efforts of the SWP initiative by introducing the K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP). The K12 SWP is focused on creating, improving, and expanding K12 CTE programs and pathways. In addition, it supports the bridging of K12 CTE programs with counterpart programs at the California Community Colleges.
